hlp ... new with sub-report
one. I have a report which has to use 2 data sources but correlate them.
There will be a summary table followed by detail for the summarized resource
and then another table needs to follow that which is also contains separate
detail for the same summarized resource (but from a different data source).
So the report will need nested lists - an outer list for resource group and
an inner list for the 2 detail tables (from separate data sources) for the
resource group) - I hope that makes sense. Essentially Summary - detail -
detail .... Summary - detail - detail. Anyway ... I have a report which has
the Summary and the first detail ... I tried to add a subreport and it wont
render. I can run the subreport separately and it works ... I have the
parameter values supplied ... but all I see on the rendered report
(containing the subreport ) is error - Subreport could not be shown. No
clues as to what the problem is ... can someone help me 'deleted and recreated the same report over again that I was going to use for
the subreport ... and it seems to work ... I dont understand what would be
different ... its the same report just created all over again. Sometimes
this tool is so qwerky! I still dont have it repeating just yet though ...
so the jury is still out on whether it will work or not. To have the
subreport repeat every time a group changes ... I have to enclose it in a
rectangle with the other table that it is tied to? I was reading this from
Microsoft Reporting Services In Action which said that to tie it to a data
region ... put it in a rectangle with the region it is tied to. We'll see
how that works.

Hierarchical Subreports
subreport)? If so, how do you get the SubreportProcessing event to fire on
the second or higher level subreports? Or better yet, how do you add a
subreport to a subreport and get it to populate?
--
Thanks,
PaulNo reason why you can not do hierarchical subreports. As with any report you
need to insert a subreport control and define the properties of this
subreport. These would include:
a) the subreport's name, and
b) the report parameter mappings (if any) to feed into the subreport

Hiding reports
Is there a way to hide reports before publishing and then hiding reports via the Report Manager? We have some subreports that before we publish, we would like to set a flag to hidden so the Report Manager will know after the deploy that this report is to be hidden.
Thanks for the information.
Check out this post.

|||Thanks for the link.
I guess there is not a way to tell the report to be hidden before deploying it to the server. I kind of wished there were without having to go into the Report Manager after the report has been published.
|||Yes you can. If you use the Reporting Services Web Service to deploy your reports you can pass in properties that sets the hidden property just like you would do in the report manager.

hiding folders and list view
Hello I have a few questions hoping someone can help
Any way to hide a report completely ? ie data source folders, subreports called from hyperlinks etc
Anyway off hiding the List view and restrict the user from selecting list view ?
Anyway off customising the reporting services top area which is in yellow and black ie put a logo in this area ?
thanks
Hi,
You cannot hide a report completly in the SSRS. It is not a problem to see the reports in details view. It is a communication issue with the end users not to use the subreports. Also, you cannot remove the "show details" button.
For custom look, you should create your ASP.NET application and use the ReportViewer control. In this case you can hide your reports

Janos
|||Do you want to hide the report or subreports?
If report,why do you want to hide a report,when permissions can play a role in this task.
Do you want to show the hyperlink conditionally.you have the option to write act as hyperlink as a function in the navigation property fx itself.
Why not,you can place a picture in the header? make it as template and use it when ever you want

Hiding a subreport - How to suppress the blank line ?
Minimize the size(width and height) of the sub report to the maximum extent.
sincerely,
Amde
|||Hi,
I have the same problem. I am using a sub report with a table. Even, if I reduce the height to maximum extent, it still adds up and creates blank space. Is there any other way?
Can I suppress a single cell of the table if it is blank?
Thanks in advance !!!
|||Thanks, I tried that before, but that doesn′t solve my problem.Even when I minimize the height of the line in the main report or the sub report itself, there′s still a noticable blank line. In my case, I′ve got like 6 or more sub reports in that table and even minimized there′s too much blank space if more than one sub reports are hidden.
Isn′t there any way to completley hide the line, where the sub report would have been?
|||Common guys, any "Pro"
Or is it just impossible?
I postet on several forums and a lot of people have this problem, too, but noone seems to have a solution for this.
|||
hi nic
Create an Empty Row in yout table.
Embed the sub-report in this table row.
Hide the table row when theres no data in your subreport.
And it will hide the extra space
|||Hi,
Right click on the field and go to expression.
In expression type the below
=IIF(Field!FieldName="",true,false)

Prashant
|||What is the actual expression to "Hide the table row when theres no data in your subreport" ?
Thanks,
Pete
